Found is a social enterprise of Union Gospel Mission, an organization that has been helping the hungry, homeless and helpless in the Lower Mainland for over 80 years. UGM offers a wide range of services including hot meals, drug and alcohol recovery, transitional shelters and affordable housing, as well back-to-work and other educational programs.
Gateway
The Gateway program is an example of the help UGM provides. Gateway assists individuals struggling with addiction and a host of barriers that can hold them back from a life of recovery. Guests are offered a safe place to rest, stabilize, and regain physical and mental strength while meeting with UGM staff daily to set and work towards attainable goals. Recovery is emphasized, whether that means applying to UGM’s six month Alcohol and Drug Recovery Program, or another more suitable program. Gateway provides support and tools to make this critical step into recovery and a new life.
Emergency Shelter
The Emergency Shelter is a vital resource within the Downtown East Side community. Open 365 days a year at 601 East Hastings, it provides up to 72 beds for men struggling for a place to call home. Each guest is given the dedicated care and grace-filled attention they deserve. Once there they have access to an experienced Care Manager, who provides personalized one-on-one care to help them climb out of survival mode and transition to a safe, healthy future.
